What happened?
Tell us the affected area, how long ago it happened, whether it was repeated and which products were used. A small recent accident is different from a persistent smell coming from inside. Fragrance sprays can make assessment harder.
Check compatibility first
Not every enzyme product or household remedy suits every fabric. Care instructions and manufacturer advice still apply. Do not mix cleaners or work extra water into the filling before assessment.
When cleaning has limits
Odours may become noticeable again after drying if the source is deeper. Reassessment may be needed to decide whether another treatment is worthwhile or a component should be replaced. Complete odour removal is not a blanket promise.
Where the liquid may have reached
Identify the affected seat, approximate timing and whether there were repeated incidents. Liquid can pass below the cover; the visible ring does not show its full spread. A removable cushion can be assessed differently from a fixed upholstered section. Whether components may be opened depends on their construction.
We distinguish visible soil from the suspected source of odour. A clean cover alone does not establish that contamination in foam or the base has been removed. If those components cannot be accessed or treated, that limits the expected result.
What to do before assessment
For a fresh liquid, carefully collect accessible excess with a clean absorbent cloth where the care instructions allow it. Avoid rubbing or pouring more liquid into the cushion. Keep the names or packaging of products already used. “Pet spray” alone tells us little about the product or how it was applied.
Do not mix products or mask the smell before assessment. An enzyme cleaner is not automatically compatible with every covering. If the filling has already been treated, mention that too: the next decision needs the full treatment history.
Review the result and any further steps
The agreed treatment depends on the material and accessible components. On suitable fabric, recovering cleaning solution can remove loosened soil from the treated surface. Any additional odour treatment is explained with its scope and price; complete removal in every case is not a blanket promise.
Once dry, check whether the smell remains in the same place. Tell us about changes and any new incidents. Before repeating treatment, we need to establish what it would do differently. For filling that cannot be treated, the furniture maker or an upholsterer may assess replacement options; repairs are not automatically part of this service.
