What we need to assess

Photograph the whole sofa, affected areas and the care label. Include the seat count, approximate width, loose cushions and any products already used. These details help establish scope and limitations before a visit. Photos cannot reveal everything about the construction, so an assessment of the material still matters.

How we clean your upholstery

We start by checking the fabric and vacuuming away loose dust. If the upholstery is suitable for wet cleaning, we treat it and extract the cleaning solution along with the loosened dirt. Fabric that bleeds colour or is already damaged may need a different approach; some coverings should not be wet cleaned.

Seats, backs and cushions

Before the visit, we agree which seats, armrests, back panels and cushions are included in the price. If you also want the rear of the sofa, a pull-out bed or a footstool cleaned, let us know so we can include them in the quote.

What cleaning cannot repair

Faded dye, worn fibres and tears are not removable stains. Old discolouration may also remain. Drying depends on the fabric, filling and room conditions; plan to use the sofa only after it is fully dry.

Seats, armrests and back cushions

Armrests often show everyday contact soiling, while individual drink or food marks stand out on the seats. We assess these areas separately. A pale patch may be colour loss; a darker patch may also reflect a change in the pile. We record visible damage and the marks you want addressed before treatment.

The order covers the upholstery surfaces agreed with you. Mention decorative cushions, the outer back and any pull-out sleeping section separately. For a sofa against a wall, we also establish whether it needs moving, who will do that and whether there is enough working space.

How we treat suitable fabric upholstery

We first remove accessible loose soil using dry care suitable for the cover. We then assess individual marks and test compatibility with the intended treatment. On suitable upholstery, spray extraction applies a cleaning solution and recovers it with loosened dirt. Recovery passes reduce the moisture left behind.

The furniture determines the treatment; a higher temperature is not an aim in itself. An explicit prohibition on wet cleaning rules out that method. Cleaning will not repair worn-through fabric, restore faded dye or rebuild a seat cushion that has lost its shape.

After the visit: leave the upholstery uncovered

Choose a time that leaves room for drying afterward. Replace throws and fitted protectors only when the treated parts are dry. We discuss how cushions may be positioned and which areas to check later. If this is also your bed, tell us before agreeing the date.

At handover, we review the cleaned surfaces together. Compare their appearance again when dry. If a new ring or unusual smell remains, send photographs and explain the drying conditions before applying another product.
